Introducing a stunning new home design project: Staircase and furniture

Remodeling and Home Design

It’s easy to understand why oak continues to be a highly popular choice for home furniture design. As an incredibly strong wood which reacts well to staining and painting, you can enjoy custom oak furniture which truly reflects your tastes and ambitions for your home.

Hardwood never goes out of style, and we specialise in crafting timeless pieces which our clients can enjoy for decades. Aside from singular furniture commissions, we’re often asked to create oak designs for every room in the house.

This recent bespoke staircase project is a stunning example of how oak can be used throughout the home to create very different effects.

Starting with a stunning staircase, we were then commissioned to create several pieces for this beautiful family home. With the client’s kind permission, we’d like to show you how we’ve transformed this property through bespoke oak designs. As always, if you have any questions, please just get in touch.

A wonderful stained oak and glass staircase

Custom designed oak staircase by Lomax Interiors

At first glance, you may think these stairs are a darker wood such as walnut. They are actually oak stained wenge (to match the flooring) with clear bevelled glass balustrades.

As you can see, the first steps have feature recessed lighting. We think practical (see where you’re going in the dark) and beautiful!

With the stained oak and glass panels, the client has a contemporary yet timeless staircase design. Newal posts provide beautiful detail.

Pink drinks cabinet

This stunning pink drinks cabinet is a wonderfully unique piece. Re-imagined from a family heirloom (no antique value), the clients now have a piece of furniture which reflects their style.

This wonderful dining area can seat up to 19 people. We created the table to match the rest of the dining room furniture (also crafted by our team).

With a secret door to the kitchen ‘hidden’ in this dining room dresser, the client has their own secret passageway! The cabinet doors all lift up with a soft close mechanism.

Oak stained wenge lounge furniture matches the flooring and staircase. Matching floating shelves complete the look.

To modernise the existing oak doors, we stripped, stained and re-polished them to match the new furniture and flooring.

While we can craft designs from almost any material imaginable (bespoke gloss kitchens are very popular right now), the popularity of oak furniture had led us to create our very own bespoke oak furniture gallery.

You can learn more about our commissions here and gain some inspiration for your own home project. If you have a question about any of the projects, please speak to us and we’ll be happy to tell you more.
